Day 4 (Friday, May
24th) The real Vikings, a new favorite place, AND a boat
ride ... it just keeps getting better! |
|
Today we traveled via a time warp
that started in the Viking age. Then we passed through the 20th Century
crossing
the Storebaeltsbroen Bridge (it took 15 minutes to cross at 100 kph).
And
finally we went back in time by
ferry to
Aero, an island that might have been created in a fantasy story. This
must be where Danes dream of vacationing. |
|

At the
Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Jack tried out a long boat.
Conclusion, seaworthy but lacking in amenities (he couldn't find the bar
or the head). Our respect for Viking fortitude just kept on growing. |
|

Det Lille Hotel, one of three our
group stayed in, was excellent. Our second floor windows overlooked
the sea. |
 |
The other side of the
hotel opened onto the past with cobbled streets and few vehicles.
Here George, Shan and Paul get ready to explore. |
