Viking Dreams

Touring Scandinavia May 21 - June 7, 2002

Sweden

Day 10 (Thursday, May 30th) More of Stockholm then departure for Helsinki.

After the laundry dried we packed and got ready to go.

Our first stop was the VASA Museum where Sweden's greatest warship is on display after sitting on the bottom of the harbor for 600 years.  Based on government specs, it sank as soon as it left the dock.

Next stop, Skansen, the living museum of Swedish heritage.

We finished the day on a cruise ship bound for Finland.  Cabin was small but comfortable ... no porthole though.  Hundreds of Swedes and Fins on a round trip to buy duty-free goods plus lots of overloaded tourists ready to buy anything they can carry.  Dreams of high-sea adventure tonight.

Dinner on the boat was an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord.  With so many wonderful choices we both ate ourselves into a "food coma."  We spent most of the evening walking the decks and enjoying the beautiful scenery as we cruised through the Archipelago.
