We had a wine sampling picnic at
Cahors on the way to Albi. We sampled local wines throughout the trip.
Our conclusion was that most French vin ordinaire at 10-20 francs per bottle
is better than anything we've found in the U.S. at any price ... could it
be? or is it because we are in France!

This fortified bridge, Pont
Valentré, at Cahors was built the 1300's. Impressive to walk across.
We did find the devil that hides high on the tower. Wonder if that
helped scare enemies away?

Gerry and Barbara
outside the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec. The history of this artist is
fascinating. His paintings and posters exceed his reputation. |

The Basilique Ste. Cécile, a fortified basilica.
The interior is absolutely beautiful despite its grim
exterior. Definitely not JAC (just another cathedral.) |

Above are the formal gardens
outside the Musée; formerly the archbishops residence. He
obviously lived modestly. The weather just kept getting better and
better. |
